• Beginning Floral Design

Class 1 - Flower and greens identification, cleaning flowers, making bows and a small flower arrangement.
Class 2 - Hand tied arrangements and dish gardens.
Class 3 - Vasing flowers.
Class 4 - Identifiying design styles and a round arrangement.
Class 5 - Boxing flowers and wire service.
Class 6 - Wiring and taping flowers and making a corsage.
Class 7 - Round wedding bouquet and identifying bouquet styles.
Class 8 - Setting up containers and making a funeral arrangement.

Cost is $400.00 and includes all supplies. Each class lasts approximately 2 hours. Students should bring pen, notepad, knife and scissors. Day time, night or weekend classes available.

• Advanced Floral Design

Class 1 - Fundamentals of making an advanced corsage.
Class 2 - Instruction on how to create an elaborate wedding bouquet.
Class 3 - Learn to make a set piece in styro foam.
Class 4 - Learn to create a high style arrangement.
Class 5 - Learn how to create a Japanese Ikebana arrangement.
Class 6 - Learn to design a large funeral arrangement.
Class 7 - Learn techniques used in creating an easle arrangement.
Class 8 - Focus is on how to design a casket spray.

Cost is $600.00 and includes all supplies. Each class lasts approximately 2 hours. Day time, night or weekend classes available.

• Advanced Wedding Class

Class 1 - Making bows, pew bows and pew decorations.
Class 2 - Corsage, boutonnieres and hair pieces.
Class 3 - Hand tied wedding bouquet and wrapping handles.
Class 4 - Cascade bouquet in holder.
Class 5 - Presentation bouquets, mom's roses.
Class 6 - Head table arrangement, unity candle arrangement.
Class 7 - Halo and kissing ball for flower girl.
Class 8 - Garland and head table decorations.
Class 9 - Side alter arrangements.
Class 10 - Round vased centerpieces for reception and bud vases.
Class 11 - Eiffel tower centerpieces, loose and in a holder.
Class 12 - Flowered oasis ring around hurricane.

Cost: $75.00 per class. The cost of the class includes supplies. Each class last approximately 2 hours.

Floral design classes are taught by Deborah Johnson-Houston, FTD Master Designer, who has 39 years experience. She trained 4 1/2 years with Dick McClure, a graduate of American Floral Art School in Chicago, IL. She won contest awards through F.T.D. , Teleflora and Michigan Floral Association and designed and commentated for F.T.D. and Teleflora. She has worked as a committee chairperson and on many committes for the annual Michigan Floral Association convention. Our students are encouraged to go to the convention and work on committees for valuable experience. She designed for Nordlie in Warren, Michigan and Oswalts in Detroit. Floral Career Academy was established in 1987 and has been inspiring creativity ever since!
